New Horizons Country Day School was established as a private Preschool accepting three and four year old children in 1983. After much demand from the growing community in 1986, a two year old classroom and Kindergarten were added as our Preschool classroom space expanded. At this time, the demand for an Elementary program became clear from the surrounding neighborhoods.

In 1987, an Elementary program was established. New Horizons Country Day School was purchased by Kim and Jeff Trocin in 1996. Mrs. Kim Trocin had been employed by New Horizons since 1992 as a Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Trocin is a Florida Certified Teacher with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Exceptional Education from the University of Miami, FL as well as a Masters Degree in early childhood Education from Wheelock College, MA. Mrs. Trocin is also a parent of two children who attended New Horizons Country Day School between 1990-2001.

It was between 1987 and 1995 that New Horizons Elementary program grew into a highly desirable multi-disciplined literacy-based program. In 1999, a new building with the addition of neighboring property, allowed New Horizons to expand the preschool from five to nine classrooms, while expanding Elementary from four to six classrooms. New Horizons Country Day School sits on the corner of Nebraska Avenue and Belcher Road (21st Street) on three acres of wooded property.
